How The NDIS Planning Process Works

27 Oct 2020

Understanding your current supports

  • Consider your present supports and who delivers them, as well as what additional supports and services you may require reaching your goals.

Preparing for your planning meeting

  • Booklet 2 - Planning is a good place to start. You may complete it on your own or get the aid of someone else, then bring it to your planning meeting.

  • You also need to bring any relevant reports or assessments which helps NDIS understand your situation clearly.

  • Depending on your scenario and assistance requirements there are different people to help you along the way

Attending a planning meeting to create your plan

  • Discuss the goals/activities/tasks you want to pursue with your early childhood partner, LAC or NDIA planner.

  • They will ask you what you would like to work towards

  • They will adjust the plan to be the most compatible with you

Receiving your approved NDIS plan

  • LAC or NDIA planner will talk to you about how long it will take to get your approved NDIS plan and the steps you need to take next

  • Once it is approved, your early childhood partner, LAC or NDIA planner will give it to you in person or mail a paper copy out to your preferred address

  • You can ask for a copy of your plan in a variety of accessible formats and your preferred language version as well.

Using your plan

  • You need to understand the different budgets and who can help you start using your plan, and how your plan is managed

  • Now you can choose what supports and services, who provides them and when and where they are delivered

Reviewing your plan

  • NDIS will contact you six weeks before your plan ends to discuss a review. Call 1800 800 110 or find and contact an office in your area if no one contact you.

  • During this call, they will review your current NDIS plan and how much you have changed.

  • They will set up a review meeting face-to-face, online or over the phone. It is a reflection about what you have done for the last 12 months and what you have achieved.

  • If your current plan reaches its end date before your new plan is finalised, your current plan will be automatically extended for up to 12 months.

Ultimately, we are here to help you bring your NDIS plan to life based on what’s best for you – not anyone else.
